Melissa’s first music loves were Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash. They opened the door to a world of music that became a regular part of her life. Melissa began her singing career in junior high school when she joined the school’s choir, performed a solo at All State Choir, and helped her school place in the competition. From that moment on, she had music in her veins and would feed the passion at every opportunity.

Melissa comes from a family of musicians and, in following the same footsteps, set out upon her own path by singing in a punk rock band in the 1980’s. Although her stint in the band was short, Melissa felt the fire of the music and the stage, which cemented her desire to, someday, devote more than an occasional song to her first love. That day has come.

After a 20 year hiatus for a successful career, Melissa is getting back to her musical roots as a modern jazz singer in her band Dizzy’s Other Sister.  The band’s musical focus is re-creating rock and pop songs from the 1980s and 1990s through this jazz lens, resulting in a unique sound for our favorites from the era.

As a singer, Melissa is always interested in working with other creative and talented musicians. Jam sessions feed her soul and are always welcomed! Feel free to private message Melissa if you’re interested in some musical play time.
